Wall Street Reporter Interviews Dr. Lei Jin, Founder and CEO of GenSci

SHANGHAI, China- Dec 5, 2006-Dr. Lei Jin, Founder and CEO of GeneScience Pharmaceuticals Co., Ltd. (GenSci) was interviewed by Wall Street Reporter on December 4, 2006.

Dr. Jin briefly int roduced his company, aiming at a potential market size of $2 billion with 6 core products, which has enjoyed a tremendous growth since the company was founded 10 years ago. When asked about GenSci’s unique keys to success, Dr. Jin pointed out that GenSci has developed an efficient marketing and branding strategy in the biogeneric market in China, focusing on a niche and fast-growing market.

According to Dr. Jin, GenSci has invested heavily in early stages on R&D programs thanks to its rapidly-growing revenues and profitability, standing out of the Chinese biopharmaceutical industry. For example, GenSci has been developing long-acting formulations for its current products. Additionally, GenSci’s competition edge over its peers lies on its marketing prowess for its Somatropin (human growth hormone) products and on its focus on quality features as well.

In terms of the global alliance strategy, as GenSci is able to offer a solution of low-cost and high-quality manufacturing, Dr. Jin is looking for multinational companies that need outsourcing their API production in China. Meanwhile, with its strong domestic marketing and sales network, GenSci is also actively seeking in-licensing opportunities.

In the last 12 months, GenSci’s achievement includes its development of a Molgramostim Gel which is expected to launch early 2007, in addition to the Pegylated Somatropin which enters into Phase III early next year.

Dr. Jin is optimistic about the future growth of his company, armed with a management team with multinational company background and overseas experience.
